UFO Constitution
The UFO's day to day operations are all carried out under the banner of the UFO Constitution, which is presented here in its entirety.
Article One: Becoming a member.
To become a member of the United Fanzine Organization co-op, one need only inform the Chairman of one's application, and send copies of his/her comic or zine to all members listed on the UFO roster. The membership will then vote on acceptance.
Article Two: Membership requirements.
(a) All members are required to publish 20 pages of new material (comic or text) annually.
(b) Each member must send a free copy of each published memberzine to all other co-op
members. As not all members have internet access, publishers of web comics should
send hard copy versions of their online comics to the membership.
(c) Each member should contribute work, in the form of reviews, columns or original material,
to at least every other issue of the UFO Newsletter Tetragrammaton Fragments.
(d) Dues are $20.00 annually. These dues help to cover co-op promotion, as well as printing
and distributing each issue of the newsletter.
Article Three: Memberzine requirements.
(a) Each UFO comic or zone must carry the UFO symbol on one of its four covers. (Exterior
or interior front or back)
(b) Each UFO publication is required to carry the UFO Checklist.
(c) The UFO does not censor its material, however responsibility and use of common sense
by members is strongly encouraged.
Article Four: The UFO Chairman.
A Chairman election shall be held annually. The elected Chairman has the duties of editting and publishing the bi-monthly UFO newsletter, conducting the general co-op business, managing member dues accounts, or delegating these affairs. It is important that he or she appoint an Emergency Chairman immediately upon assuming office. The Emergency Chairman shall assume the office if the elected Chairman must resign the position prior to the next election. There is no limit to the amount of terms a Chairman may hold.
